About The Life Picks
Hi, I’m Life. I started The Life Picks because shopping for ordinary things had become weirdly exhausting. Every product page shouts. Every “best of” list looks the same. And the spec that actually matters is usually buried under ten that don’t.
This site is my attempt to fix that for the things most people buy: kitchen gear, everyday clothing and footwear, the tech you use daily, the basics of a healthier routine, and the stuff you pack when you leave the house.
How we research
Every guide starts with the same three sources:
- Manufacturer specifications. What a product is actually made of, how big it is, what it draws, what it’s rated for.
- Expert and trade sources. Standards bodies, long-form reviewers, and industry publications that explain why a spec matters.
- Patterns in real-world reviews. Not the five-star or one-star outliers, but the complaints and praise that show up again and again across thousands of owners.
From that, we write guides that explain the two or three things that genuinely change your experience, and tell you which details you can safely ignore.
We do not run a lab. When a guide says a feature “tends to” do something, that is the language of research, not of a bench test, and we keep it honest.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not influence what we recommend. Brands cannot pay to appear in a guide, and we do not accept sponsored placements inside editorial content. You can read the full affiliate disclosure.
